How To: Cozy Night

Updated: Aug 30, 2019

The majority of the world agrees that the autumn season is a series of endless cozy nights and I think that every night could be a very cozy one if we want it to be. Right? I believe that I’m one of those people who is gifted at making any place or any time feel cozy without the need of fancy props. And since autumn is the perfect time to enjoy a cozy night-in, I thought I’d suggest some ideas.

TV Shows

If you follow me on twitter, you’d know that I’ve been binge-watching The Office for two months now. I could have finished it in one month if I had stayed in bed all month long, but that wasn’t an option. Anyway, the other day I had the whole house for myself so I shut all the windows, shut all the curtains, and turned all the lights off so the house was pitch black at 9 in the morning. I watched like 6 episodes of The Office whilst having breakfast and lying down on the biggest couch we own. That went on for 3 hours straight, with no distractions whatsoever. It was the coziest morning I’ve had in a while! And even though I had way more important things to do that day, I don’t regret it.

I’m a TV junkie; I watch lots and lots of tv shows, and if I ever get hooked on one, I binge-watch it till my eyes sore and my brain screams. So considering my experience, I thought I’d suggest a few tv shows that can make you feel warm on the inside: The Office, Hart of Dixie, and of course Friends. These three are feel-good tv shows; I’ve been re-watching Friends for 4 years now and I’ll probably re-watch The Office soon. They’re the kind of shows that make you wish your life was exactly like theirs’.

YouTube Videos

If you’ve read this post, you’d know how much I love watching certain YouTubers and how much each has influenced my life. Over a year ago, the idea of watching some random person video recording their life wasn’t appealing to me at first until I gave it a try and I’ve been hooked since then. It’s exactly like watching a tv show except that it’s not scripted and it’s all real; I watch YouTube on daily basis now. Out of all the videos that I’ve ever watched, there was this one vlog by Zoe Sugg that just made me serene. It’s a 40-minute vlog including 5 separate days of work, fun, and celebrations. It might not sound like a special video but you watch it and you’ll understand. This vlog is definitely my absolute favorite so far!

Movies

Earlier this year, I’ve created two lists of movies as a reference to your mood; feel-good movies and heartbreaking movies. Most people would choose a feel-good movie over a sad one on a cozy night, while I may go with the sad one. I’m one of those people who find comfort in sadness so sometimes all I truly need is to shed (a few) tears.

Books

Even though you’d only occasionally find me with a book in my hand, I know a couple of books that would make you feel cozy even if nothing around you is: The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell, and Slammed and its sequel Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover. Personally, I never read books twice, but The Wedding is the only book that has won my heart to the point of reading it for the second time. This should tell you something about that book. As for the other two books; they’re feel-good books that I couldn’t put down once I started reading them. I think I read part one of Slammed in one day and part two in the next. Just writing about these books is making me smile, and that too should tell you something about them.

These were my non-costy cozy night suggestions that would easily make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I’m this close to watching The Office tonight and enjoying some cozy time even though I have a midterm exam in 3 days.

Let me know in the comments below how you spend your cozy nights. Is there a certain movie you watch every time? Are there any feel-good books I should read?
